My name is Heather Godden. I’m an editor, ghostwriter, and writing coach, certified by Editors Canada in Structural Editing and Stylistic Editing. I’m experienced and intuitive, and I love helping authors with the hard work of taking their projects to the next level.
Proudly based in London, Ontario, I’ve been working with clients locally and globally since 2006. Some of my specialties are:
- developmental editing, thorough manuscript evaluations, and deep structure work
- romance editing across subgenres—from sweet contemporary to dark paranormal, western to romantic suspense
- high-level stylistic polishing of literary fiction and genre fiction (horror, fantasy, thriller, etc.)
- LGBTQ+ fiction and memoir, particularly trans narratives and queer coming-of-age stories
- editing scientific, technical, or medical material for a lay or corporate audience
- self-help books and “big idea” books
I believe in the mysterious and transformative power of the writing process. I also believe in the power of a good book to change the world for the better: I love working on texts that challenge mainstream thinking and break new ground artistically and ideologically. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m particularly passionate about supporting queer voices and stories that center marginalized experiences.
